“Assessing the Value of Transdisciplinary Research: The Science of Team Science”

Dr. Daniel Stokols is Chancellor’s Professor of Planning, Policy, and Design, Psychology and Social Behavior, and Dean Emeritus of the School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine. He is also Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology in the College of Health Sciences at UCI. His recent research has examined contextual factors that influence the success of transdisciplinary research and training programs.
Program Objectives:
• To provide a broad overview of the science of team science
• To give examples of logic models that has been used to guide prior evaluations of team science initiatives and to discuss in terms of their distinctive emphases and concerns.
• To provide a summary of multiple metrics and methodologies that have been used in prior studies of cross-disciplinary research and training programs
• To provide information on the challenges inherent in efforts to translate and disseminate team science knowledge into practical applications. 

Accreditation: The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Office of Continuing Medical Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Accreditation: This activity is approved for 1.0 contact hours by the University Of New Mexico Office Of Continuing Medical Education, an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Mexico Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Per the criteria for approval from the New Mexico Nurses’ Association, participants who are requesting nursing credit must attend the entire lecture to obtain the certificate of credit.
