Bernalillo County Commissioner Michelle Lujan Grisham Presents Guest Lecture on Politics and Healthcare Reform

As part of the UNM Depart­ment of Polit­i­cal Sci­ence sum­mer grad­u­ate course “Pol­i­tics of Health Reform,” Polit­i­cal Sci­ence 551/Public Health 560, Bernalillo County Com­mis­sioner Michelle Lujan Grisham will present a guest lec­ture on Fri­day, June 8 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Santa Ana A&B at the UNM Stu­dent Union Build­ing. The lec­ture is open to UNM stu­dents and faculty.

The course, taught by Bill Smith, exec­u­tive direc­tor, National Coali­tion of Sex­u­ally Trans­mit­ted Dis­ease Direc­tors (NCDS) and Jil­lian Medeiros, assis­tant pro­fes­sor of Polit­i­cal Sci­ence, and co-sponsored by the RWJF Cen­ter for Health Pol­icy at UNM, explores the inter­sec­tion of pol­i­tics and health­care in the United States with a focus on how health­care reform and the Afford­able Care Act impact aspi­ra­tions of pro­mot­ing health equity and reduc­ing health-related dis­par­i­ties, par­tic­u­larly among minor­ity populations.
