New Mexico is a microcosm of the United States, with great cultural diversity and shortages of medical resources. We face huge community health challenges that can only be met by changing the social and economic environments that contribute to premature death among Latinos, American Indians and other low-income communities. The lessons learned from our challenges can provide a unique and informed perspective to the health policy debates facing our nation.

In these times of competing priorities, rapidly changing demographics and tight budgets it is more critical than ever that health policy decisions be grounded in facts and the most up-to-date information and analysis representing the diverse communities they intend to serve.
