About the Laboratory
The GIS Laboratory provides Geographic Information System (GIS) and 3D modeling resources that enable users to visualize and analyze spatial information in a dynamic and digital environment. This initiative of the RWJF Center for Health Policy is designed to build upon the Center’s interdisciplinary collaborations to produce unique opportunities in the development of innovative modeling resources.
The GIS Laboratory also provides RWJF Fellows with mentoring and training opportunities in the use of GIS modeling to better inform their health and health policy discussions. The use of GIS mapping can be a very powerful tool for race-based advocacy, as it helps to ground race and equity discussions in actual, often community specific, demographic patterns.
